Natchitoches Parish Fair

4-H Has Talent

Thursday, September 29 at 6:30 PM

Register from 5 – 6 PM

This contest will provide an opportunity for 4-H members to display their talent as an individual or groups up to 8. Individuals and groups, regardless of performance, will be judged in one category. Each performance will be scored and the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner will be named in each division. All contestants are required to bring their own equipment with the exception of a CD player.

 Rules:

  1. An entry may consist of an individual or group of up to 8 members.
  2. Individuals and groups will be judged in two divisions:   Junior: Grades 4 -7      Senior: Grades 8 -12
  3. Contestants must bring all props and supplies for their performance. Musical accompaniment must be on a CD; cassettes will not be accepted. Only a CD player will be provided.
  4. The contest will be judged by one set of judges; there will be no finals.
  5. Time limit per act is 2-5 minutes. Contestants will be notified during their performance when 30 seconds, 15 seconds, and 10 seconds remain. Microphone and/or music will be turned off if the act exceeds 5 minutes.
  6. Acts may include vocal, dance, drama, instrument etc.  

The Draw a Dairy Billboard contest and Beef Poster Contest have been postponed. Please keep checking back for current information.

It's a movement for positive change in every community in America. 4 - H youth are a living breathing, culture-changing revolution for doing the right thing, breaking through obstacles and pushing our country forward by making a measurable difference right where they live. We want you to join our revolution and take responsibility when it comes to Internet and cell phone use.

 Cyber Bullying: What is it?  Nobody likes to think of himself or herself as a wuss or sissy, but on the Internet, everyone is a potential victim - no matter how tough you are in real life. Sometimes when people are taken advantage of or embarrassed over the Internet, they don't even know it!

Did you know?  That 56% of people have personally witnessed some type of bullying at school

JOIN Jr. Leaders - Are you in the 7th - 12th grade and have a desire to help other in the community? Natchitoches Jr. Leaders is a teen service organization that meets the second Thursday of every month from 6:30 - 7:30 at the Natchitoches Arts Center. Club membership is open and dues are $10.00. Dues must be paid by the October meeting (These dues are separate from the St. Mary's 4-H club dues)

Visit your local Tractor Supply Store September 21st - October 2nd and purchase a paper clover for $1.00. Proceeds benefit you local 4-H!

CAMP INFORMATION:

Survivor Camp: For 7th - 12th graders on November 17-19, Cost is $40.00; Location - Jimmie Davis State Park (Number allotted 5 boys, 5 girls and 2 Adult Leaders) Registration Deadline: October 7th.

Fashion Camp: For 4th - 7th graders on January 21-22 Cost is $65.00; Location - Camp Grant Walker (Number allotted 2 Campers and 1 Adult Leader)          Registration Deadline: November 18th.

Junior Leadership Camp: For 7th - 12th graders on March 9 - 11 Cost and registration deadline TBA; Location Camp Grant Walker (Number Allotted 4 boys, 4 girls, and 2 Adult Leaders)                                                                                                                                                                                           Registration Deadline: TBA

Food & Fitness Camp: For 9th - 12th graders on March 17-18 Cost is $40.00; Location - Camp Grant Walker (Number allotted 4 Campers and 1 Adult Leader) Registration Deadline: January 27th.

You must be enrolled in 4-h (completed registration card and dues paid) 2 weeks prior to the event in which you want to participate.

Special Project Clubs

Horse Project Club: The Natchitoches Parish 4-H Horse Club is organized as a part of the Natchitoches Parish LSU AgCenter. The project club is dedicated to teaching youth more about the care, training and riding of horses. The goal of the project club is to help youth and their families achieve success with horse 4-H projects. 4-H Livestock Project Club: The primary purpose of the youth livestock program is to provide an opportunity for the development of youth through involvement in an activity that interests them. The secondary purpose is to teach them how to care for, fit, and show their animals. Through the responsibilities and experiences of livestock projects, youth develop positive character traits. The club offers field days, educational trips, and hands-on activities with professionals. Photography Project Club: This beginning level project club is designed for youth with little or no prior experience in photography. But we welcome any level of photographers that could help guide the group. Using the focus of photography project book, members will learn more about equipment, lighting, composition, and skill building.
